Rep Your City & Social Sushi

[We] allow citizens to tell their stories, promote their assets and to represent what they love by sharing with others what to do, where to go, who to meet in their city

I love being an entrepreneur because unlike my precious occupation as an electrical engineer, every minute that I spend on my business, I’m impacting my city and as soon as we perfect our model soon, cities all over the world!

On my down time I like to spend time with my family. As a father and an entrepreneur, it can be difficult to balance your time. I’m happy to have a support system that allows me to wear that allows me to wear both hats.

One piece of advice I like to give to people starting their own business is to read the book ‘The Business Model Generation.’  It gives you the tools you need to effectively take your idea from a thought to a real world thing. Don’t waste your time on a full blown business plan. Get with the Business Model Canvas!

If you want to open a business like mine you have to be a people person. There is no way I’d be able to do anything I’m doing if I didn’t come out of my shell. For years I would go to every single networking event that I could and talk to people. You never know who you’ll meet or who you can connect that person to. Being at every event that I could possibly attend, the people that I desired to meet constantly saw me around. So being seen is important and letting people know what your goals are. If you’re not comfortable with telling people you’re idea, it can be very difficult for you to get connect to resources and people that can help you along the way!

If you were to spend the day with me you would find out I am extremely passionate about being a promoter of good in Detroit. I’m often asked what is that I do for fun. Funny thing is, I love what I do with my business. RepYourCity embodies everything local. So sports, community events, mom & pop shops, supporting independent artist of all forms and more are all in the mix of me doing business. What I do is truly passion work and I love that I can do what I do for a living and for fun. I encourage everyone to find that balance!
